Voice: What does all this sludge mean? Wednesday, August 8, 2007 10:39 PM PDT Liberty XX power plant promises $90 million in property improvements, promises to use top technologies to remove mercury and other pollutants from air emissions, and it promises to bring high-paying jobs to a county where the majority of the supporters of this plant are being patted in the back like Ms. Sue Giller, that has brought some issues to our attention, which in reality should be of little concern. I think that we should be talking about the health issues of our communities and we should revere our environment and treat it as such.
But to the big wigs, they feel indifferent to you and me. They claim to be on our side, but when the call comes, they seem to call away.
When the people call for an initiative, we have ignorance calling it unconstitutional when in fact an act or statute could only be called such by a judicial review. In my opinion any attempt in trying to block the people’s wishes is only contempt and treats its constituents as worthless.
In conclusion, we all know based on all the surveys either done by the government or private parties that Imperial County has the highest pollution in air particles. Example: We have twice the pollution than San Diego County. How much more pollution can we handle besides the New River, the Salton Sea, the toxic waste ponds, the gold mines, and the latest project which is recycling trash.
Apparently trucks loaded with human waste will be the new trend in improving our way of living. What does all this sludge mean at the end? Think about it.
